Making Connections
Students explore the Food Cards. This is a helpful activity to complete first, especially before Create Your Own Cards.
Create Your Own Cards
Students draw their own Food Cards using the template provided to enhance the class card set. Consider completing the Making Connections activity first.
Create a Target Language Set
The teacher and students work together to create a set of Food Cards in the target language. Intended for after introducing the Food Cards in English.
Got Your Back
Students practise oral language skills by asking questions about the Food Cards on their backs.
Words I Like
Students create a personal dictionary page based on the Food Cards.
Poetry Potluck
Students write and share poems inspired by the Food Cards.
Rhyming Songs
Students create their own food lyrics for a familiar rhyming song.
Mail It
Students sort Food Cards based on beginning phonemes.
Elkonin Boxes
Students develop phonological awareness by segmenting spoken words into sounds.
