DIY Meals and Snacks Lesson 2: Exploring Variety
In this lesson, students explore how choosing a variety of vegetables and fruits, whole grain foods, and protein foods helps their bodies get the nutrients they need.
Activities:
📊 Food Profiles Using the provided nutrient graphs, students compare various foods to see how each contributes to their nutritional needs. The graphs are based on the Canadian Nutrient File and Health Canada’s reference tables. Because of the data complexity, students aren’t asked to create their own graphs.

One simple and one complex recipe is suggested. Both have chef-led videos embedded in the slide decks and are accessible via the links below:
