The Food Lab: Milk Carton Garden
Explore plant growth, data collection, and experimental design through a hands-on STEM investigation.
With the Milk Carton Garden Experiment, learners create an indoor garden using reused milk containers and investigate how different conditions, such as light, water, or placement, affect plant growth over time. As they observe, record, and compare results, they build skills in scientific thinking, data analysis, and inquiry.
Adaptable across grade levels
You can adapt the investigation to suit a wide range of learners—introduce basic plant needs and observation with young students or support experimental design, data analysis, and deeper scientific thinking with older students.
